So you think you’re ready for the exam? It is more difficult than it was just 5 years ago so make sure you make sure you spend some time studying. There are a bunch of changes between the Food Code 5 years ago and the Food Code used today and the questions are more complex.
In most states, like Massachusetts, to become a certified manager in food protection or to become re-certified you must pass one of the 4 nationally accepted exams: ServSafe, The National Registry of Food Safety Professionals (NRSFP), Learn2Serve or Prometrics. It is the same exam whether you are re-certifying or taking the exam for the first time. We use both ServSafe and the NRSFP exams as they are both accepted nationwide. The exams are multiple choice questions with 80-90 questions on each exam. You must score 75% or higher to become certified. Please be aware that in New England, only Rhode Island requires 15 hours of training in addition to passing the exam all other NE states do not have this additional requirement. Always check with your local jurisdiction to be sure of the requirements for your state, county and town. The online exam is available in Spanish, Chines and English. This exam can be taken at out Boston Office or for an extra fee taken at your place of business. The exam is 90 questions and you need a 75% score to become certified.
The cost of an exam in our office is $100 per student and the cost to bring the exam to you is an extra $200 (plus the $100 per student exam fee $300 total).
All exam dates and times are not confirmed until you receive a second email with directions to our office.
